Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I come check out a class?
Yes.  We encourage newcomers of any age to visit our academy, watch a class, and meet Mestre Roque.  If you'd like to take the class, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete the paperwork.  Wear a t-shirt and sweats or yoga pants, white if possible.  No street clothes.  You can either go barefoot or use tennies.

Do I have to be in top shape to do capoeira?
No!  Learning capoeira will help you get in the best shape of your life.  Students can burn up to 500 calories an hour in a class.  You can expect to increase your flexibility, strength, cardio, balance, and motor coordination through the practice of capoeira.   If you come to class regularly, you will get results.  Just ask our students.

Do you have classes for beginners?
Yes!  We now offer two Beginner classes that focus on learning basic and fundamental moves.  Any level student can come to the beginner classes as you can never train the basics enough!  New students can start in either a Beginner or Multi-Level class.

What if I can't do all the moves?
All the moves we practice can be modified to your fitness ability level.   Capoeira is physically demanding and we know it takes time to build the proper physical conditioning and mindset to do certain moves.  Also, we regularly encourage all students to "respect the limits of your body" to practice safely and avoid injury.  If you have a condition that limits you, please let Mestre Roque know.

Do I need a uniform?
Yes, the uniform is mandatory for all registered students.  The basic uniform consists of white or blue training pants and a white or blue shirt with the Bodysport Capoeira logo.  On Fridays, students should the white shirt/white pants.  New students have three weeks to purchase a uniform
